For a very long time, many outlets have reported that Vince Mcmahon was looking to sell the WWE for a very long time. That is the reason why the WWE had mass layoffs during the Covid 19 era. However, many people actually thought the only reason why Vince was letting even his most famous superstars go was simply to cut costs which would have helped him sustain the WWE during the pandemic era.
Stephanie McMahon and Triple H Were Not Reportedly in Favor of Selling the WWE
Vince McMahon announced his retirement last year after a member of the board launched an investigation against him to look into some hush money that he allegedly paid former employees.
Most of them were allegedly females and the reason why he allegedly gave the hush money was to stop them from speaking against him. According to the reports, Vince may have s*xual harassed female employees. Of course, that could never be proven, and the investigation was actually dropped.
In fact, the board member that actually launched the investigation is no longer part of the board. Vince McMahon made news recently when he made his return to the WWE board of directors. He made his return after he wrote a letter to the board, in which he stated that his presence is necessary to negotiate a deal to sell the WWE and for a new media rights deal.
Most of the board actually did not want him back, but ultimately voted unanimously to bring him back as the executive chairman. The previous executive chairwoman Stephanie McMahon actually resigned recently. Stephanie was also the co-CEO of the WWE.
Stephanie previously stated to the entire company that the management would not change, even when Vince returns. However, this has actually proven to be false. It was noted that Triple H also voted to bring Vince McMahon back.
A new report by Axios claims that Triple H and Stephanie do not like the idea of selling the WWE. Vince McMahon left in July last year. When Vince left, he left all positions that he had in the company, including his role as the creative head of the company.
That is the reason why many WWE employees that left the WWE actually wanted to be back in the WWE, as they liked the idea of working under Triple H, who some believe is handling the company better than Vince McMahon did.
