WWE legend Shawn Michaels recalled how difficult it was to get Raw live on television a couple of decades ago. HBK is one of the greatest performers of all time, having taken part in several memorable feuds during his long career.
The former WWE Champion had his last match at Crown Jewel in 2018, where he joined forces with his great friend Triple H to face the Brothers of Destruction (Kane and The Undertaker) in Saudi Arabia. Shawn is now Senior Vice President of Creative Talent Development for the company.
When he was at the peak of his career, HBK was not easy to manage and his ambitious nature caused him several problems backstage. Michaels ended up in the eye of the storm several times and it took several years to rehabilitate his image.
With the advent of Triple H as the new head of the creative team, Michaels has gained even more power in NXT.
Shawn Michaels is a WWE Hall of Famer
Guest in the latest edition of 'WWE The Bump', Shawn Michaels spoke about the difficulties that wrestlers have faced due to the passage of Raw on live television.
“As Shelton Benjamin can confirm, it took us a long time to fully understand all the various mechanisms of television. That was perhaps the toughest transition ever. We had to figure out how to deal with ad breaks and how to get there right, not forgetting the return from advertising.
There are so many things going through your mind while you're in a wrestling match, plus there was the added element of television. Today it is difficult to realize it, but it was something really revolutionary at the time.
It has been a wonderful journey and I am happy to have been a part of it” – said HBK. Michaels also spoke of Logan Paul: “He's a really bright guy who works hard and knows how to listen to advice. He knows what it takes to get to the top of this business.
A lot of people were skeptical when he set foot in WWE, but he's proven he's a tough guy and deserves the utmost respect." Shawn Michaels appeared on this week's The Bump as part of a video package to celebrate 20 years of Shelton Benjamin in WWE.
"We will keep a spot warm for you [Shelton Benjamin] in the Hall of Fame for my man because that's a guaranteed deal for you whenever you're ready to put up the boots, congratulations."
