The contract of one of ROH's biggest stars seems very close to expiring. According to what was reported by Inside The Ropes via Fightful Select, the Ring of Honor Six Man Tag Team Champion along with the other members of The Embassy namely Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona, Brian Cage will see his contract with AEW expire within weeks of his first signing in 2020.
His contract expired last year but was eventually extended by a year thanks to an option to renew. According to the report, Cage was pleasantly surprised by this given that he hadn't appeared on television in several months.
Latest news on Brian Cage
Following the situation for Fightful there would be WWE which could be interested in bringing Brian Cage to Stamford despite the fact that at the moment there is no confirmation of something like this either from the sports entertainment giant or even from the star himself.
At the moment he is only highly regarded for his work since he returned to television in mid-2022 but nothing more. During his time in ROH, Cage formed a stable with Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun and, as The Embassy at Final Battle, the three defeated Dalton Castle and The Boys to be crowned ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions.
Brian Cage had begun his adventure in AEW in 2020 by debuting as the last surprise participant of the Double or Nothing Casino Ladder Match, winning the match without being able to beat then-champion Jon Moxley. He still managed to take home the FTW title but, in July 2021, lost the crown to Team Taz member Ricky Starks, also ending his alliance with that faction.
After sporadic appearances following that defeat, he disappeared from the radar for several months. Since 2022 when he first appeared on Supercard of Honor XV, he has since established himself as a star of Ring of Honor, a company at the time recently acquired by All Elite Wrestling president Tony Khan.
Unfortunately for Brian Cage, he landed on his head during a match and suffered a concussion, leading to the signing being delayed. "I fall backwards and my head falls down all three ropes. The next day, I was concussed. I asked Noble what happened and if he talked to Ace.
He said he will try to talk to him and we will see what happens. End of the night, he never talked to him and he said, don’t worry, we have your information. We are going to Australia for a couple weeks. We will reach out to you, whatever.
I’m thinking this sucks. I’m going to look for Ace. I keep seeing him. He was always talking to somebody. I said ok, forget it, I’m going for it."
