During the latest 'After The Bell', WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther returned to discuss various topics. From a possible match with Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes at the Imperium.

Gunther is a true champion

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther recently opened up on his name change after joining the main roster.

"I guessed it. Walter is my real name. And from the side of the company, it makes a lot more sense if you can actually have some ownership over the name of an athlete that you present or put out there to an audience. So I kinda expected it.

But it was fine for me," said Gunther. If he would like to get in the ring against Cody Rhodes: "When I learned that the final scenario of the Royal Rumble match would have to see a match between me and Cody, I knew what would happen.

He had been missing for a while and there was so much enthusiasm "Since he's gone I've been able to work my way up and try to bring him back as best I can. I think he's one of those guys that I can have amazing matches with everywhere.

I think I'd be ready to fight him, that would be cool." If it happened in Europe, obviously even better." On how it feels to get in the ring with Brock Lesnar: "This is a match that I would definitely like to get at some point in my career.

Obviously, it's been talked about a lot, especially on the web but the live reaction is always different. I think that little moment I had with him at the event, it was all I needed and it was amazing. That night the confirmation came that I can really fight Brock and now people think so too.

I was happy of what we've done. If I have a final boss, I think Brock Lesnar is the right one for me. So let's see if what I want eventually comes through." These days, Gunther has become the Intercontinental Champion with the long reign of the 21st century.

Not only that, the leader of the Imperium went down in WWE and Royal Rumble history. Entering the first number, in the longest royal fight ever, Gunther surpassed the stay record previously held by Rey Mysterio by updating the numbers to 1 hour, 11 minutes and 42 seconds. The Ring General is currently feuding with Shinsuke Nakamura.
