At WrestleMania 38, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin delivered an unforgettable surprise to Vince McMahon and defeated Kevin Owens in a thrilling match. The WWE persuaded the iconic wrestler, who had been out of the ring for nearly two decades, to return with an offer he couldn't refuse.

Austin revealed why he returned to the ring and face Owens in a recent podcast episode called "Out of Character." In the 1990s, the "Texas Rattlesnake" began his wrestling career in Dallas, so the chance to finish it "where it all started" was a big draw for him.

However, WWE had attempted to bring Austin back for a match before. He revealed that the business had previously approached him multiple times but that he had declined their proposals due to creative differences.

Oh, I turned them down several times before they kept coming back with new ideas," Austin stated.
