The highly anticipated main event for WrestleMania 39, featuring Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, has been in the works since August, as WWE executive Bruce Prichard revealed in a recent interview with "The Press Box." With the marquee event just around the corner, Prichard spoke about the long-term planning that led to Rhodes being chosen as the ideal challenger for Reigns' Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the company's grandest stage.

He also acknowledged that the WWE is mindful that plans may need to change at any moment due to unforeseen circumstances such as injuries. Prichard explained that the creative process involves looking ahead and imagining the perfect attraction for the audience.

However, various factors can alter the initial vision as the storyline unfolds. "You can look into the crystal ball a year ahead and ask yourself, what would be a great attraction? And that takes many machinations where you look; here's your ideal scenario, where I'd love to go and where we think we will be," he said.

"However, as you start that journey, you deal with human beings, flesh, blood, and bones. So along the way, a lot of things can happen that will change that trajectory — people could get hurt, and different things could come up.

So, what your wish list is, is often different than where you ultimately end up. I would say that getting to this place where we are started probably in August."

Rhodes-Reigns Feud: Storytelling Success

Comparing the iconic 1988-89 storyline between Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage leading up to WrestleMania 5, Prichard mentioned that the best stories could be seen through both characters' perspectives, making it relatable and engaging for the audience.

"The best story is when you can see it through both sets of eyeballs, and you can relate to both," he said. "It's like, 'He's got a good point.' 'Oh yeah? Well, he's got a good point too!' Those are the best and most difficult to write sometimes." As WWE fans eagerly await the showdown between Rhodes and Reigns, it's clear that the company has been meticulously planning the main event for months.

This attention to detail and dedication to storytelling, combined with the in-ring prowess of both superstars, will make WrestleMania 39 an unforgettable experience for wrestling enthusiasts.
