WWE fans witnessed the formation of a brand-new faction led by Rey Mysterio during a backstage segment on the March 31st edition of Friday Night Smackdown. The show aired from Los Angeles, setting the stage for the highly anticipated Hall of Fame ceremony, with Rey Mysterio headlining this year's inductees.
As Rey Mysterio prepared for his Hall of Fame speech in the locker room, he was joined by Legado Del Fantasma members Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro, and Zelina Vega. During their conversation, Santos Escobar disapproved of Dominik's disrespectful behavior toward his father, Rey.
Noting that he is a father, Santos offered the group's support and protection against any potential interference from The Judgment Day in Rey's upcoming match against his son Dominik.
Rey Mysterio Launches New LWO
In response, Rey Mysterio expressed his gratitude and decided to make this alliance official.
He handed out five t-shirts, one for each of the four Legado members and one for himself, emblazoned with the Latino World Order (LWO) logo. With this gesture, Rey Mysterio formally established the new LWO. The original LWO was a faction in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) that existed over two decades ago.
Rey Mysterio was part of the group led by the late Eddie Guerrero. The faction was introduced in October 1998 but had a short-lived run, as it disbanded by January 1999. As the newly-formed LWO gears up for action in WWE, Rey Mysterio is set to face his son Dominik at WrestleMania 39 on Saturday, April 1st.
The formation of the new LWO adds an exciting twist to the storyline and promises to captivate WWE fans. The resurrection of the LWO pays homage to its original incarnation in WCW while introducing a fresh and dynamic angle to WWE programming.
This development will generate buzz among wrestling enthusiasts as they eagerly await the outcome of the Mysterio family feud at WrestleMania 39.
