WWE fans witnessed a surprising turn of events during Night 2 of WrestleMania, as Finn Balor's "Demon" persona experienced a rare defeat. The night took an unexpected turn when Balor sustained an injury, adding insult to injury.
A ladder struck Balor in the face during his Hell in a Cell match with WWE Hall of Famer Edge, leaving him bleeding profusely. The severity of the injury led to a temporary halt of the match while medical staff attended to Balor.
Pro Wrestling Insider (PWI) provided additional information on the incident, reporting that Balor received an injection of what appeared to be a numbing agent at ringside. Medical personnel also used staples to close the wound before allowing him to continue the match.
Balor showcased his resilience and determination despite his injury, earning the "one insanely tough SOB" title from PWI.
Edge and Balor's Intense Rivalry
The long-standing rivalry between Edge and Balor began last summer when Edge's villainous faction, The Judgment Day, betrayed him after WWE Hell in a Cell.
Since then, the two superstars have clashed at four WWE premium live events, including Clash at the Castle, Extreme Rules, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania. Balor emerged victorious during their "I Quit" match at Extreme Rules, but Edge triumphed on all other occasions.
Their most recent WrestleMania match featured the Hell in a Cell stipulation, which had not been used since 2016. Both superstars made a strong impression with their unique entrances, with Balor embracing his "Demon" persona and Edge revisiting his vampiric origins as "Brood Edge." This high-stakes match garnered significant attention from fans and critics alike.
Interestingly, this is not the first time a "Demon" Balor match has faced a temporary stoppage due to an accidental injury. A similar incident occurred at NXT Takeover: Dallas in 2016 when Balor defended his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe, who was busted open during their bout
