Bobby Lashley, one of the most dominant forces in the WWE, was reportedly close to having a match at WrestleMania 39, despite not appearing in any match at the event. According to Fightful Select, L.A. Knight was pitched and planned to have a segment with Lashley, but the idea was ultimately scrapped.
Lashley, who won the Andre The Giant Battle Royal trophy on the March 31 edition of "SmackDown," was given only a few minutes to show off his award on night two of WrestleMania. Fightful also reported that the trophy was initially transported to the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, for an entrance, not the original segment.
Lashley is upset over not having a match at WrestleMania 39. He expressed his frustration in a video, noting that not having a match this year was "one of the toughest things to swallow" and that "he has to go back to square one." Despite sending out challenges on social media in search of an opponent for WrestleMania, Lashley could not secure a match.
Lashley's Planned WrestleMania Match Scrapped
Lashley was initially scheduled to face Bray Wyatt at this year's event, but the match was scrapped due to a health issue for Wyatt. Nonetheless, Lashley had a match on "Raw" after WrestleMania, where he defeated Mustafa Ali in less than a minute.
Since his return to WWE in 2018, Lashley has always had a match at WrestleMania. Last year, he faced Omos at WrestleMania 38, while the year before that, at WrestleMania 37, he became the WWE Champion after defeating Drew McIntyre.
While Lashley may have been disappointed by not having a match at WrestleMania 39, he has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the WWE, with his strength and agility making him a formidable opponent any match.
It remains to be seen who he will face in his next match, but fans can be sure that Lashley will be ready to dominate and prove himself again.
