Merchandise sales numbers are a good indicator of how popular a particular wrestler is in any promotion. Merchandise sales also help a promotion financially. Most wrestlers that sell a good amount of merchandise usually get pushed by their promotion.
Many WWE wrestlers over the years have helped the WWE financially by selling a high number of their merchandise.
Cody Rhodes Individual Merchandise Sales Topped Every Other During WrestleMania Week
According to this, Cody Rhodes is currently the most popular wrestler in the WWE right now, as his merchandise sales during the WrestleMania week was the highest.
No other superstar could top his sales. Cody Rhodes competed for the WWE Undisputed Title at WrestleMania 39. He fought Roman Reigns, but failed to win the titles. Even though Cody topped the individual merchandise sales, the general WWE/WrestleMania themed merchandise were the ones that sold more than anything else.
This is according to Fightful. Fightful’s report did not speak about the other wrestlers that sold a good number of merchandise. Roman Reigns and the members of the Bloodline were probably the ones that also sold a huge number.
However, this hasn’t been reported yet. Even though Cody did not win his match against Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman and Triple H suggest that Cody is not a bigger star than he was before entering WreslteMania to fight Roman Reigns.
Heyman stated that Cody’s redemption story is the one that really kicked into high gear at WrestleMania 39. Cody will obviously still chase the Undisputed WWE Universal Tittle in the weeks to come. At the moment, Cody is in a feud with Brock Lesnar.
Brock recently attacked Cody on WWE Raw. Brock actually came out to say that he will be Cody’s tag team partner to fight The Bloodline. Fightful reported that Brock and Cody working together was actually WWE’s plan about a month ago.
Some fans actually thought that this was Vince McMahon’s plan, who has recently returned to the creative team. The match hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we can safely assume that Brock will fight Cody at Backlash, which will take place on the 6th of May.
Cody Rhodes was one of the founding members of All Elite Wrestling, which is WWE’s main rival these days, even though they are far behind the WWE, in terms of ratings. Cody left his position as one of the Executive Vice Presidents of AEW to re-join the WWE.
Many people believe he did that as he could see the AEW going down as a result of bad booking decisions and incorrect direction.
