WrestleMania 39 has come and gone, leaving fans with unforgettable moments and thrilling matches. However, for renowned wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, two matches from the event truly stood out. In his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer awarded five stars to two separate matches, doubling the total number of five-star rated WrestleMania matches in the event's history.

Before this year's WrestleMania, only two matches had received the prestigious five-star rating. The first occurred at WrestleMania 10 in 1994, where Razor Ramon faced off against Shawn Michaels in a legendary ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship.

The second five-star match happened at WrestleMania 13 in 1997, featuring Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin in a submission match that catapulted Austin's career to new heights. Now, two more matches join the ranks of these classics.

The first of these five-star bouts headlined the first night of WrestleMania 39, showcasing the talents of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens as they took on The Usos. In a dramatic conclusion to Zayn's story with The Bloodline, Zayn and Owens emerged victorious, capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship in a match that will be remembered for years.

The second night of WrestleMania 39 saw another match receive a five-star rating, this time in the form of a hard-hitting triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship. Gunther successfully defended his title against the formidable Sheamus and Drew McIntyre in a match that followed their five-star rated bout at Clash at the Castle in September 2022.
