Road Dogg reveals WWE considered two-night WrestleMania after WM 34.

For WWE fans, WrestleMania is the most important event of the year. Over the past few years, the company has considered splitting the event into two nights instead of just one. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer and former producer Brian "Road Dogg" James revealed some behind-the-scenes details regarding the initial decision to consider a two-night WrestleMania.

James reflected on the roughly seven-hour 2018 WrestleMania event in the most recent episode of his podcast "Oh You Didn't Know." He said that WWE rethought its traditional format and considered running the event over two nights because of this length of time.

Road Dogg: WrestleMania 34 Started 2-Night Discussion

James mentioned that the discussion regarding a two-night WrestleMania began with WrestleMania 34. He recognized that while the show was extensive, it was challenging to figure out which grapplers to cut from the card without disturbing fans.

"Who has been productive for you throughout the year that you will take off the show?" James asked. That is a difficult circumstance." With this in mind, the plan to stage WrestleMania over two nights started to take off. James explained that the seven- and eight-hour nights like WrestleMania 34 sparked the discussion about a two-night event.

He continued, "This was one of the first years where that conversation started milling around like, "Hey, is there anything to doing this on two nights?" "This was one of the first years." Or something like that?'" Over the past three decades, WrestleMania has been a one-night event; however, the show's length has become increasingly cumbersome in recent years, with some editions lasting longer than seven hours.

It would assist in resolving this issue, and WWE would also be able to showcase more of its talent if the event were held over two nights. The idea of a two-night event has become more commonplace since WrestleMania 34. In 2020, the pandemic will force WWE to hold a two-night WrestleMania for the first time.

The two-night format was so popular that WWE decided to keep it for WrestleMania 37 in 2021, and it is anticipated to continue. Overall, learning about the behind-the-scenes discussions at WWE regarding the WrestleMania format is interesting. It's exciting to consider what the future holds for WrestleMania and WWE as the event evolves.
