Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that Dean Malenko recently left the WWE. Malenko is a professional wrestling veteran and has worked behind-the-scenes for a long time after he stopped wrestling. According to the same report, Malenko has been a road agent for the past 8 years.
He went from one promotion to another and placed matches together. We do not know where Malenko will end up or what his future plans are. All Elite Wrestling may hire Barrasso has his unique skill set is required by that big promotion.
In fact, many indie promotions may hire him as well and that can be good for him. Malenko was good at booking tag team matches and had the ability to utilize shorter talents. He knew how wrestling moves work and how can they be used to set up great matches.
Those were his greatest strengths. He was also a technical wrestler and had the ability to use his knowledge of technical wrestling to put together matches that were far from the WWE style of wrestling. Malenko’s father was the legendary Boris Malenko.
He worked for NJPW, ECW, WCW and WWE and quit the ring in 2001. He won the WCW Cruiserweight title four times and wont the ECW World Television Title 2 times. During his career, he also won a few other lesser valued titles.
