Former WWE star KAIRI recently expressed her desire to reunite with her popular ex-tag team partner, Asuka. Kairi, previously known as Kairi Sane, gained fame in WWE alongside Asuka as The Kabuki Warriors. Together, they achieved remarkable success on WWE's main roster, capturing the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.
In an interview with Proresu-TODAY, KAIRI shared her thoughts on possibly reuniting with Asuka and expressed her gratitude to fans from outside Japan. "Miss Asuka, I hope to meet you again someday, somewhere," she said. "It has been about three years since I left the U.S., but the number of offers for interviews and matches from overseas has actually been increasing, and even on social networking sites, I receive many messages in English from overseas fans saying, 'Please come back soon!' I can only be thankful for that." During the interview, KAIRI also reminisced about her victory in 2022, where she defeated Mayu Iwatani to become the inaugural IWGP Women's Champion.
"It (winning IWGP Women's Title) was the highlight of my career so far, and even though I am a freelancer, it was the highlight of my return to STARDOM… Wrestling in New Japan's ring… And with Mayu (Iwatani) and with the belt in the main event, I had never even dreamed of it."
KAIRI's Hopes for Asuka Reunion
Unfortunately, KAIRI lost the title to Mercedes Mone at NJPW Battle In The Valley in February 2023.
Mone is reportedly interested in establishing a permanent presence in Japan. Despite this setback, KAIRI remains optimistic about her future in the wrestling world and hopes for a reunion with Asuka, her former tag team partner.
Fans of The Kabuki Warriors eagerly await the possibility of their favorite duo joining forces again, and KAIRI's recent comments have only fueled their anticipation. As the wrestling world evolves and new opportunities arise, the prospect of KAIRI and Asuka reuniting inside the ring could become a reality, much to the delight of their dedicated fan base.
