Roman Reign Dominance Stifles Growth of Other WWE Stars

Roman Reigns has been WWE's undeniable face for the past three years. He has proven a dominant force in the company with his impressive reign as WWE Universal Champion. However, other top WWE stars have suffered due to this historic run.

Reigns has been dominant ever since he returned at SummerSlam 2020 in a new heel persona and teamed up with Paul Heyman, defeating every challenger. His hang on the WWE headliner scene has restricted other stars' chances to sparkle and foster their personas and storylines.

Worse still, no one on the roster has a realistic chance of challenging and defeating him. Due to his reputation as an almost unbeatable force and exceptional character work, it has been challenging for other wrestlers to appear as genuine threats to his title reign.

The Stifling Effect of Roman Reigns' Dominance on WWE's Male Stars

This absence of genuine challengers has become apparent in Rules' General Title rule. He has defeated high-profile wrestlers like Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Goldberg, Drew McIntyre, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Edge, and most recently, Cody Rhodes, all of whom have put on great matches against Reigns and have not been able to defeat him.

However, he has been successful in defending his title. In the face of Reigns' dominance, numerous prominent male wrestlers, including Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and Brock Lesnar, have lost their luster and failed to maintain their relevance.

Indeed, even the ladies' division feels the hit of Rules' title run. Despite Bianca Belair quickly becoming the longest-reigning Raw Women's Champion ever, WWE barely talks about or hypes it because Roman seems to be the primary focus.

The Bloodline storyline is so vital to WWE programming that many fans feel the Ladies' division is being disregarded. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair stole the show at WrestleMania Night 1, but it was not the main event. The absence of a spotlight on the Ladies' division and other top male stars has frustrated fans, and they feel that WWE isn't building its different stars as well as it ought to.

Even though Reigns' run was historic and one of the best things WWE has ever done, the company needs to see the significant impact and build their other stars. Fans anticipate seeing new challengers arise and reignite the enthusiasm in WWE's headliner scene.
