WWE Injury Crisis: Carmella & 12+ Wrestlers Sidelined

WWE is grappling with an unprecedented number of injuries and medical absences among its talent, leaving many top wrestlers on the sidelines. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that main roster stars Carmella, Big E, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, Ronda Rousey, Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Robert Roode, and Aliyah are all currently out of action.

In addition, WWE NXT is also affected, with Amari Miller, Arianna Grace, Blair Davenport, Nikkita Lyons, Roderick Strong, Sanga, Yulisa Lyon, and several WWE Performance Center trainees unable to compete. Most of these sidelined wrestlers reportedly hail from the developmental side of the business.

Big E, a member of The New Day, faces an uncertain in-ring future following a neck break during a WWE SmackDown match last year. He recently revealed plans to discuss his latest scans with doctors. Meanwhile, Randy Orton is far from returning to the ring after undergoing fusion surgery for a severe back injury.

Robert Roode's wrestling prospects are also in limbo after he had neck fusion surgery in December 2022. Kofi Kingston and Tommaso Ciampa have gone under the knife to address their injuries.

Injuries Plague Top Wrestlers

AJ Styles has been out of action since breaking his ankle late last year, and Bray Wyatt is dealing with an unspecified physical issue.

Johnny Gargano's recent shoulder aggravation has put him on the injured list. Ronda Rousey is nursing an arm injury that limited her performance during the women's WrestleMania Showcase tag match at WrestleMania 39. Aliyah's recovery has been lengthy, as she has been out of action since September 2022.

The current status of Carmella and Drew McIntyre remains to be determined, adding to the growing concerns surrounding WWE's roster. This spike in injuries and medical absences may impact storylines and upcoming events, forcing WWE to adapt and adjust as necessary.

It is worth noting that injuries are an inherent risk in professional wrestling, and WWE has always managed to navigate similar situations. Nevertheless, the sheer volume of sidelined talent may be a significant challenge for the organization as it strives to maintain fan interest and deliver high-quality matches in the face of adversity.
