In recent weeks, there have been conflicting reports about the status of WWE NXT stars Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler. It has now come to light that the company has refused to release the former NXT UK Tag Team Champions from their contracts.
This news comes after Fightful Select reported that Reid and Fowler, known as The Schism, had requested their release from WWE. Although Dave Meltzer seemingly confirmed their release, the situation has taken a different turn, and the duo has continued to appear on NXT television.
Jagger Reid, also known as James Drake, took to social media to address the situation, stating that WWE denied their release request. He expressed gratitude to his supporters and revealed that his contract with WWE would expire on October 14, 2023.
Reid looks forward to the future, saying, "I'm excited to share our next chapter once we are free agents."
Rip Fowler also confirmed via social media that his release request had been denied. He informed fans that he and Reid would become free agents again on October 15, 2023.As of today, WWE has denied my request for my release.
I want to thank you all for your support throughout my career, I'll never take that for granted.

WWE Faces Endeavor Takeover
The denial of release requests coincides with an interesting time for WWE, as the company is believed to be undergoing an unofficial hiring freeze due to Endeavor's impending takeover. WWE CEO Nick Khan has also mentioned that the company plans to be "aggressive" in implementing cuts in the near future.
For now, Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler will remain with NXT until their contracts expire in late 2023. While their future is uncertain, fans can continue to follow their careers and look forward to their next chapter once they become free agents.
