Hall of Famer and AEW Director of Business Development Jeff Jarrett recently sat down with Jim Varsallone to discuss the future of the professional wrestling industry, predicting that both WWE and AEW will reach new heights within the next two years due to the massive WWE and Endeavor merger.
The deal, which has the wrestling world abuzz, has cemented the industry as more profitable than ever.
Jarrett Foresees Industry Growth
Jarrett analyzed the implications of the WWE-UFC merger and offered his thoughts: "There are so many different ways to look at it, but at the end of the day, I have about nine billion reasons to tell you that says it all in the professional wrestling business.
Vince McMahon has done an amazing job over the years, and professional wrestling has continually dipped in and out of pop culture. Now, we see the industry as truly mainstream in every possible way. I firmly believe that 12 to 24 months from now, we'll witness the wrestling industry, including WWE and AEW, reach another level, thanks in large part to the impact of this merger." Not one to shy away from giving credit where it's due, Jarrett also praised AEW for their ambitious move to book Wembley Stadium for their UK debut this summer, marking the first wrestling event at the iconic venue over 30 years.
He continued, "The merger is a financial statement, but it's so much more than that. It's about the DNA of pop culture. Just days after the announcement, AEW revealed plans for a summer event at Wembley Stadium in London, an iconic moment.
It's been 30 years since a wrestling event was held there, and AEW's statement shows just how far the industry has come." Jarrett emphasized the importance of big business and big money in shaping the future of wrestling: "Mergers and acquisitions are the nature of the beast in business.
That's what my attorney specializes in, and it's clear that the WWE-Endeavor merger has set the stage for wrestling's further expansion into the mainstream."
