Kurt Angle, the renowned WWE Hall of Famer, recently confessed to declining an invitation to participate in the 2023 WWE Draft. This year's event, held last week, unfolded across Smackdown and Raw, with Triple H inaugurating the Draft by announcing the initial selections.
WWE legends such as Shawn Michaels, Eric Bischoff, Rob Van Dam, and Molly Holly took turns revealing which Superstars had been drafted for each brand. Kurt Angle, who had appeared on the 30th Anniversary episode of Raw, was asked to join the Draft as well.
However, the Grand Slam Champion decided to pass on the opportunity and disclosed his reason.
Kurt Angle Reveals Draft Decline Reason
During The Kurt Angle Show, Angle admitted that he already had prior commitments on the day of the Draft and would not be able to attend.
He expressed regret about the situation, saying, "I was asked to do it, and I couldn’t, unfortunately. I wish I could have. I would have loved to be there and announce a draft pick, but unfortunately, I was busy that day and couldn’t do it.
They offered me. I had to turn it down, unfortunately." In Angle's absence, Shawn Michaels took part in the Draft, during which several NXT Superstars were promoted to the main roster. Indi Hartwell, for example, bid an emotional farewell to NXT, leaving the Women's Championship in the ring and being carried out by Dexter Lumis as she prepared to join the Raw brand.
The recently drafted Superstars will be in action starting tomorrow night on Raw. Additionally, WWE will initiate the first round of matches to determine a new World Heavyweight Champion. Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes, both victorious at Backlash, are considered strong contenders for the Championship title. As the draft selections take effect, fans eagerly await the impact these changes will have on the WWE landscape.
