WWE Star Seeks Debut Match vs. Gunther for Intercontinental Title

After being recently drafted from SmackDown to RAW, Intercontinental Champion Gunther faces a fresh lineup of challengers ready to take him on for the prestigious title. The Austrian powerhouse has held the belt for an impressive 333 days since winning it in June, making him the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st Century.

With his remarkable track record, the anticipation for his next match is high. In a recent interview with Cathy Kelley on RAW Talk, Matt Riddle, who has yet to win the Intercontinental title, expressed his interest in facing The Ring General after the WWE Draft.

Riddle said, "With the WWE Draft just happening, there's new competition like Gunther and new titles. The World and Intercontinental titles are now on RAW, so the sky's the limit." Determined to secure a victory, Matt Riddle will undoubtedly be focused on winning following his recent loss, along with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, to the Bloodline in a high-stakes six-man tag team match at Backlash this past Saturday.

Since joining the main roster last year, Gunther's success has not gone unnoticed. The 35-year-old athlete has quickly won the admiration of fans and WWE executives alike, elevating his stock within the company at an astonishing pace.

Mantell Eyes WrestleMania Match

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell (a.k.a Zeb Colter) discussed Gunther's potential on his Story Time podcast. Mantell suggested he would like to see the current Intercontinental Champion take on Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal title at WrestleMania 40 next year.

He stated, "They could put it on Gunther. That would be a good one, and I think Gunther versus Roman may be WrestleMania next year." Over the past year, Gunther has defended his Intercontinental Championship against numerous top stars, including Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Rey Mysterio, and Shinsuke Nakamura.

This impressive list of victories has only fueled excitement around his future matchups. As fans eagerly await the outcome of Gunther's next title defense, speculation is mounting over who will emerge as the new World Heavyweight Champion at the upcoming Night of Champions event.

With the stakes higher than ever, the WWE Universe will indeed witness an unforgettable night of action and drama as the world's top wrestlers vie for glory and the ultimate prize.
