Night of Champions Main Event Announced New World Heavyweight Latest WWE Card Update
by NOMAN RASOOL
The WWE Universe eagerly anticipates a thrilling main event at Night of Champions. In what promises to be an electrifying showdown, veteran Superstars AJ Styles and Seth Rollins will clash for the newly unveiled World Heavyweight Title.
The winner will be exclusively assigned to WWE's red brand, RAW, in a significant stipulation attached to this championship bout. This requirement has been implemented following SmackDown's selection of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, in the Draft.
If Styles emerges victorious, he will shift from SmackDown to RAW as the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Styles Triumphs for Heavyweight Event
Styles punched his ticket to the main event in dramatic fashion. On SmackDown, Styles emerged victorious from a grueling Triple Threat match involving WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Rey Mysterio.
Subsequently, he beat Bobby Lashley, who had won another Triple Threat match against Sheamus and the reigning WWE United States Champion Austin Theory. Styles' victory over Lashley sealed his place at Night of Champions. On the other hand, Rollins secured his spot in the main event in the latest episode of Monday Night RAW.
He first triumphed in a Triple Threat contest against Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura. Later in the evening, Rollins was victorious over Finn Balor, who had won his Triple Threat match against Cody Rhodes and The Miz. This upcoming main event represents the sixth TV singles match between Rollins and Styles.
Fans will remember Rollins' successful retention of the WWE Universal Title against Styles at Money In the Bank in 2019. He defeated Styles twice by disqualification, once on the July 22, 2019, episode of RAW and then again on August 12, 2019.
The pair met again in a singles match on RAW on March 21, 2022, when AJ won by disqualification. Their most recent clash saw Rollins defeat Styles via pinfall on June 13, 2022, RAW. The 2023 WWE Night of Champions Premium Live Event houses this marquee matchup and is slated for Saturday, May 27.
The event will be held at the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Stay tuned for more updates as the Night of Champions draws nearer. With each passing day, the excitement continues to mount for what promises to be a historic night of action.
