Randy Orton, a celebrated WWE wrestler, may not be making a return to the ring anytime soon, according to recent comments made by his father, WWE Hall of Famer Bob Orton. During an interview with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda Wrestling, the elder Orton shared details about his son's ongoing recovery from a November back fusion surgery and the advice he has received from doctors.
The wrestling world has been closely following the recovery of Randy Orton, who has amassed an impressive 14 world championships throughout his career. However, fans may have to wait longer before witnessing The Viper's return to the squared circle.
Bob Orton revealed that medical professionals have counseled his son against returning to WWE for the time being as he recuperate from the back surgery.
Bob Orton Discusses Randy's Future
Although Randy Orton has been training and progressing, his father remains cautious about the future.
"He's training, so we'll see what happens; I don't know," he said, as Felix Upton of Ringside News reported. Bob Orton acknowledged that while his son is financially secure and doesn't necessarily need to return to wrestling, Randy ultimately has the final say in his career decisions.
"I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do." In April, respected wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, cited by WrestlingInc's Marco Rovere, stated that Orton was "nowhere close" to returning.
This information further highlights the uncertainty surrounding his return to the WWE. Randy Orton's most recent in-ring appearance occurred in May 2022, when he and tag team partner Matt Riddle faced off against The Usos in a title unification match.
Despite their loss, Orton's legacy as a legend within the wrestling industry remains untarnished. As fans eagerly await updates on The Viper's recovery, the wrestling community continues to speculate about his potential return.
While his father's remarks indicate that it may be a while before Randy Orton steps back into the WWE ring, there's no denying his impact on the sport. With 14 world championships under his belt and a storied career, Randy Orton's eventual return, if it happens, will undoubtedly be a highly anticipated event for wrestling enthusiasts worldwide.
