Arriving on this week's WWE RAW set, Undisputed Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were poised to revel in their recent victory over The Bloodline in Saudi Arabia. However, their anticipated celebrations were rudely interrupted by the surprise appearance of Imperium, despite Zayn and Owens already having dispatched them after their shift to RAW.
Zayn's 'American Alpha' Slip-Up
As Zayn started to berate Imperium, expressing that they had no right to be on stage, he suggested they focus on their close bout against Alpha Academy. But in a moment of verbal mishap, he referred to them as 'American Alpha' - a name that holds deep resonance within WWE Universe.
American Alpha is synonymous with the formidable team of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan. The pair made waves as Triple Crown Tag Team Champions, commanding dominance across NXT, RAW, and SmackDown's tag team divisions. Their legacy was abruptly cut short by Jordan's career-altering neck injury in 2018, which forced him to retreat from the spotlight.
This misnomer didn't escape the notice of WWE fans, sparking waves of nostalgia for the glory days of American Alpha. Intriguingly, the slip also raised some eyebrows, leading to speculation that Zayn's faux pas may not have been accidental but a strategic move to hint at Jordan's long-anticipated return to the ring after more than half a decade.
Despite the speculation, a return for Jason Jordan seems unlikely but only partially possible. The former champion has adapted well to his role as a producer backstage in WWE, a position he took following his injury-induced retirement.
Gable, too, has progressed since the dissolution of American Alpha, sharing a successful partnership with Otis in The Alpha Academy. Their synergy has been growing, and it is rumored that Gable might be a contender for this year's Money in the Bank ladder match, indicating a potential boost on RAW.
Otis, conversely, has carved out a distinct reputation for himself as a lothario, courtesy of storylines featuring Mandy Rose and now Maxxine Dupri. This character development has added another layer of interest to the evolving narratives within WWE.
