WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss announced this past week that she is expecting her first child. Currently, on hiatus from her in-ring performance, she has shared a significant update about her WWE contract and return to the ring following her pregnancy.
This revelation emerged shortly after Bliss divulged her pregnancy news on Instagram. Bliss spoke with The Messenger, shedding light on her recent activities and plans with WWE. She admitted that WWE generously granted her a leave of absence to compete in The Masked Singer.
Coincidentally, the timing perfectly aligned with her hiatus from WWE storylines.
Bliss Balances WWE and Masked Singer
Bliss elaborated, "WWE gave me time off for [Masked Singer] to fully immerse myself in that experience with rehearsals, vocal lessons, and everything that comes with it.
From a storyline perspective, I wasn't featured on TV anyway, so it worked out seamlessly." Continuing her revelations, Bliss disclosed the extension of her contract with WWE. The company is supportive of her forthcoming maternal journey and subsequent return.
"WWE extended my contract, so it's about returning when ready. I foresee myself resuming gym workouts about a month post-delivery and preparing for what my in-ring comeback will look like." It's no secret that Bliss aspires to reclaim the RAW Women's title, a position she hasn't held since Ronda Rousey dethroned her at SummerSlam 2018.
Her championship tally includes five Women's headers across SmackDown and RAW; all clinched between 2016 and 2018. Last year, Bliss expressed her desire to challenge Bianca Belair for the RAW Women's title. On WWE's The Bump, she lamented her four-year hiatus from holding a singles Women's title and hinted at an imminent shift.
"Tagging with Bianca will be great, but my ultimate goal is to return to the top of the women's division. It's been a while since I've held a singles championship for the women's division, and I eagerly anticipate changing that as soon as possible," Bliss stated.
Given Bliss's determination to return shortly after childbirth, it's plausible we may witness her complete comeback by WrestleMania 40. Her fans eagerly await the potential excitement of her participation in a significant match at the iconic event.
