An unexpected twist took place on NXT, the WWE's developmental brand when a Raw star spotted an irresistible opportunity and made an unexpected reappearance. The white and gold brand was enthralled to welcome back one of its familiar faces.
Recently, the wrestling landscape was abuzz with the highly-anticipated draft, where every main roster star was in contention, in addition to a few selected NXT talents. Interestingly, NXT bore the brunt of the draft, losing the NXT Women's Champion and NXT Women's Tag Team Champions to the main roster, much to the dismay of the brand's loyal fan base.
Free Agents Shake Up NXT
In the wake of the draft, several wrestlers ended up as free agents. This list included notables such as Brock Lesnar, Baron Corbin, Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Mustafa Ali, Omos with MVP, Von Wagner, and Xyon Quinn.
Yet, two wrestlers made unexpected cameos on NXT TV after Battleground in a fascinating turn of events. Mustafa Ali joined forces with Wes Lee and Tyler Bate to fend off The Schism, while Baron Corbin delivered a stunner by taking NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes by surprise, leaving him floored with the End of Days.
Fast forward to the NXT episode on June 6th, another unexpected appearance stunned the NXT universe. However, this was not a free agent but someone who had been drafted to Monday Night Raw – Dana Brooke. In a captivating development, Brooke participated in the battle royal to compete for the top contender spot for Tiffany Stratton's coveted NXT Women's Championship.
She fought valiantly, making it to the final trio before she, along with Cora Jade, was ousted by the victorious Thea Hail. Intriguingly, though Dana Brooke was introduced as a WWE Raw star at her entrance, the commentators referred to her as a free agent during the match's proceedings.
This curious contradiction added a layer of intrigue to the ongoing narrative, leaving fans and followers of the franchise eagerly waiting for the next twist in this riveting saga.
