Butch Earns Spot in MITB Ladder Match, Corbin Challenges NXT Star on Smackdown

In an unexpected twist on last Friday's WWE SmackDown, Baron Corbin, unable to keep his focus in the face of antagonism, allowed his opponent, Butch, to secure a place in the highly anticipated Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, set to take place in London, England.

The evening was brimming with tension as the next round of qualifying matches commenced. Corbin, a notorious figure within the WWE, faced off against the spirited member of The Brawling Brutes, known until recently as Pete Dunne.

Corbin had his hands complete, though, not solely with his opponent but with the lurking presence of NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, who sat ringside, maintaining a careful and distracting vigil.

Butch Triumphs Amidst Corbin's Distraction

Corbin's ongoing feud with Hayes had seen a recent victory with the takedown of Williams earlier this week on WWE NXT.

Unfortunately for Corbin, that victory proved short-lived when his attention was divided between his in-ring adversary and the spectators who challenged his focus. In this moment of inattention, when Corbin turned to taunt Hayes and Williams, Butch seized the opportunity to counter a chokeslam with a quick roll-up, thereby claiming the unexpected victory.

Despite the loss, Corbin's ire was not subdued. In a blatant display of frustration, he attacked Williams following the match, prompting both Hayes and Williams to clear the barricade, rushing into the ring. The swift intervention of WWE officials prevented a full-fledged brawl from erupting on the SmackDown stage.

As the dust settled, the implications of the evening's events began to sink in. Butch had successfully joined an impressive line-up for the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Alongside him, LA Knight, Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Santos Escobar await their chance for glory.

With the Money in the Bank event slated for July 1, only one spot in the high-stakes match remains. As each competitor prepares for what is set to be a match to remember, the eyes of the WWE universe eagerly await the final addition to this powerhouse ensemble.
