The realm of professional wrestling has evolved dramatically over the decades, transforming into the spectacle that captivates millions of fans globally today. These changes have often led to substantial advancements and periods of growth for both the wrestlers and their ardent supporters.

Yet, some seasoned combatants who graced the wrestling ring in bygone eras, particularly the 1980s and 1990s, contend that the current product lacks the spontaneity and organic feel that once elevated the sport. This shift towards a more structured modus operandi, especially prevalent in WWE, does not sit well with some field legends, such as "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.

On a recent episode of "Everybody's Got A Pod," the esteemed WWE Hall of Famer candidly shared his discontent regarding the lack of authenticity in promotional interviews in WWE's contemporary era. "The present-day scripted interviews are something I simply cannot abide by!" DiBiase emphatically stated.

DiBiase's Stance on Scripted Dialogues

DiBiase has been retired for many years, but his connection with WWE remains. As recently as 2021, he graced WWE television on the "WWE NXT" series, performing several segments alongside rising star Cameron Grimes.

Remarkably, DiBiase held fast to his conviction even in these appearances, refusing to deliver pre-written dialogues as many contemporary performers are asked to do. "I informed them that while I would consider the essence of what's written, I wouldn't be delivering it verbatim," DiBiase reflected, "It needs to be authentic to me.

The closer it aligns with my persona, the more it resonates with the audience." DiBiase is not a lone voice in this critique of WWE's reliance on scripted dialogues. Other legendary figures have echoed similar sentiments, and he will unlikely be the last.

However, only some can claim as much authority as DiBiase. His proficiency on the microphone, a skill that served him well as the former Million Dollar Champion, lends significant weight to his stance on the importance of maintaining authenticity and spontaneity in wrestling promotions.
