Former WWE Tag Team Champion, Tyson Kidd, has been absent from the ring for the past eight years, leaving fans to wonder if he will ever stage a comeback. Recent social media videos showcasing Kidd's intensified gym activity have fueled speculation that he could follow in the footsteps of other wrestlers who have triumphed over career-threatening neck injuries.
In a recent interview with "McGuire On Wrestling," the 42-year-old opened up about his current position regarding his career. "People might not fully understand that I wrestled for almost 20 years," Kidd explained. "I can see why you might think that my increased gym activity implies a return, but the truth is, wrestling served as a physical outlet for me for such a long time...
I needed to find a replacement for that physical outlet, so I dedicated more time and intensity to the gym."
Kidd Firmly Denies In-Ring Comeback
When pressed on whether he genuinely considers himself retired from in-ring competition, Kidd responded, "Yes, it's quite amusing how often I answer this question, only for people to doubt it, and I understand why.
We've witnessed numerous wrestlers claim retirement only to make a comeback, and that's fantastic, that's great. However, it's not in the cards for me. My situation is different due to my injury." Kidd revealed that his neck injury affects the first two discs, whereas most wrestlers with neck injuries have undergone repairs on their C5 and C6 vertebrae.
This career-ending injury occurred during a "WWE Raw" dark match on June 1, 2015, when he was subjected to Samoa Joe's devastating Muscle Buster finisher. Since 2017, Kidd has been a producer for WWE, contributing his expertise behind the scenes.
While Kidd's increased gym activity may have sparked hope for a possible return among fans, his candid remarks indicate that a comeback is unlikely. The veteran wrestler's unique injury and his current role as a producer for WWE suggest that he has found fulfillment in a different capacity within the company.
However, wrestling enthusiasts will continue to cherish the memories of Tyson Kidd's impactful career in the squared circle.
