Recent developments reveal intriguing backstage information on the contract negotiations between All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its high-profile faction, The Elite. For months, the wrestling world has been abuzz with rumors about the contractual status of The Elite members – Adam Page, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega – with AEW.
Ever since the inception of AEW, this distinguished group has been part and parcel of its core, and yet, they've been unable to extend their current contracts thus far.
AEW Intensifies Contract Negotiations
Noted wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer recently shared that AEW is pushing more complexly than ever to secure new contracts with these stars.
Yet, according to the latest reports from Fightful Select, a consensus has to be reached, despite both parties suggesting that an agreement is imminent. This sentiment, intriguingly, has been persistent for a considerable duration now, with little evident change.
Adding to the complexity is the continued discord between The Elite and wrestling superstar CM Punk, due for a comeback in AEW's June 17th debut of Collision. A contentious brawl occurred after All Out, where Punk had negatively commented about both Page and the AEW EVPs.
Contrary to their sentiments, punk is more inclined to collaborate with The Elite. Fightful reports, however, provide no updates regarding a change in disposition from either side. Yet, it's clear that the creative plans for all involved have been underway for a while.
Intriguingly, WWE has reportedly expressed "absolute" interest in all four members of The Elite, should they become free agents. Despite this, WWE is still far from being legally capable of initiating talks with them. Notably, sources close to The Young Bucks have refuted rumors of the Jacksons reaching out to WWE in the past year.
Most within the AEW community anticipate a resolution soon, with all four wrestlers expected to sign a new deal at significantly higher pay. As it stands, the wrestling world waits with bated breath for the next move in this complex chess game of contracts and allegiances.
