WWE's Motion to Dismiss MLW Lawsuit Rejected by Judge

In a significant legal development, Major League Wrestling (MLW) finds itself locked in a heated lawsuit against WWE, alleging monopolistic practices and violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. WWE recently took a pivotal step by filing a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, hoping to end the legal battle.

However, the latest twist in this high-stakes litigation reveals that their action has been denied. According to court documents, U.S. District Court Judge Edward Davila carefully reviewed WWE's complaints in their motion to dismiss and delivered a resounding ruling against every one of them.

Notably, the judge determined that MLW successfully outlined the relevant market, presenting compelling circumstantial evidence supporting their claims that WWE engaged in monopolistic actions and anti-competitive conduct.

Furthermore, the court affirmed that MLW had adequately demonstrated the existence of antitrust injury. In support of this stance, the judge referred to the renowned 2001 antitrust case United States v. Microsoft, which established that Section 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act violations could be found with less than the commonly required 40% or 50% market share as per Section 1 violations.

Judge Rejects WWE's Motion to Dismiss State Law Violations

Apart from disputing the Sherman Antitrust Act claims, WWE also sought to dismiss the state law violations raised by MLW. However, the judge found the defense's arguments lacking and denied their motion.

The implications of this ruling could prove costly for WWE, as MLW has reportedly initiated extensive discovery in the case. This means that a substantial amount of evidence will need to be gathered, potentially resulting in significant expenses for WWE.

With the motion to dismiss unsuccessfully, the lawsuit looms over WWE, casting a shadow of uncertainty on the company's future. As the legal battle escalates, both parties are poised to engage in a protracted and complex process, which may have far-reaching consequences for the wrestling industry.

All eyes are now on the upcoming stages of the lawsuit as the wrestling world eagerly awaits the next chapter in this high-profile legal saga.
