In April, WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner faced backlash following allegations of making transphobic remarks towards Impact Wrestling star Gisele Shaw during a WrestleCon signing. Initially ignoring the insults, Shaw later confronted Steiner in the presence of witnesses.
WrestleCon apologized to Shaw, and both Impact Wrestling and Shaw's colleagues supported her, denouncing Steiner's behavior.
WWE's Stance on Bron Breakker: No Resentment, No Impact
Recent reports from Fightful Select shed light on the backstage situation surrounding Steiner's son, Bron Breakker, and WWE's stance.
WWE does not resent Breakker and will not hold his father's actions against him. Breakker has not displayed any character issues since joining WWE in 2021. However, due to the incident, it is unlikely that Steiner himself will make any appearances on WWE programming shortly.
While Rick Steiner did make a few WWE appearances in 2022, including celebrating Breakker's first "NXT" title win in January and being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside his brother Scott in April, his involvement with WWE is expected to be put on hold as a result of the controversy.
It is worth mentioning that Steiner's on-screen kidnapping by Joe Gacy on "NXT" was designed to set up Gacy's feud with Breakker. During a recent interview, Breakker was questioned about the situation involving his father.
The former "NXT" Champion clarified that he could not speak on his father's behalf and emphasized that his father's comments do not reflect his beliefs or values. At just 25 years old, Breakker remains a prominent figure in "NXT" despite losing the title to Carmelo Hayes in April and turning heel.
In a recent development, Breakker even challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. While WWE acknowledges the controversy surrounding Rick Steiner's remarks, the company supports Bron Breakker and does not hold him accountable for his father's actions.
As Breakker progresses, he aims to distance himself from the controversy and focus on his professional journey within WWE.
