In a recent candid conversation with BT Sports' Ariel Helwani, WWE superstars, The Usos delved into various topics, including the impact of their personal and professional lives intertwining. Speaking particularly about his wife, Trinity (f.k.a.
Naomi), now a star with Impact, Jimmy Uso reflected on the strange experience of working in separate wrestling companies. The couple had been consistently on tour together ever since they began their careers with WWE. "For 12 years, we've been side by side, and then all of a sudden, everything came to a standstill," Jimmy shared.
The transition has been challenging, with both having to adapt to disparate schedules. However, Jimmy quickly added that despite the challenges, they've managed to find a way to make things work. Trinity, he says, is reveling in the new opportunity.
She's now free to explore her passions – Broadway, music, acting – at her own pace, a luxury seldom enjoyed in the intense world of WWE.
Trinity's Departure Amidst Discontent
Trinity, along with Mercedes Moné (f.k.a Sasha Banks), parted ways with WWE in May 2022, leaving their WWE Women's Tag Team Championship reign behind.
The duo's departure was spurred by dissatisfaction with the creative direction of their characters. At that time, Jimmy was in the midst of a significant push with The Bloodline, and he spoke about his concerns during that period.
"My worries weren't really about me. It was all about her," Jimmy disclosed. Recalling the day of his match with Matt Riddle, he said, "I had a match to focus on. When I got back, she'd left. Things were already reaching boiling point then, and we discovered everything."
On the topic of Trinity's potential return to WWE, Jimmy confirmed that she's open to the idea once the timing and circumstances are right.
"We started our career here at WWE, and in a perfect world, we'd like to finish here in WWE," he asserted. Echoing his sentiments, Jey humorously added, "Please come back. We need her on the road. She's the glue that keeps us all together."
Trinity made her debut for Impact Wrestling on April 28, 2023, with TV tapings, and she's now set to challenge Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo on July 15 at Slammiversary in Toronto.
Meanwhile, The Usos will confront Solo Sikoa and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns tomorrow at WWE Money In the Bank in London.
