In an exclusive interview with MailSport, the reigning WWE Undisputed Tag Team champions, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, recently broke their silence on the much-speculated topic of who might topple Roman Reigns, the undisputed leader of the wrestling ring.
After an intense six-month feud with the Bloodline, led by the Tribal Chief, the Canadian duo is ready to see a new face ascend the throne. With his impressive 1000+ days run as the company's top champion, Reigns has been seemingly invincible.
However, Owens is quick to nominate one of the Usos, either Jey or Jimmy, as the prime candidate to dethrone Reigns. His rationale isn't based on mere whims; he acknowledges their journey and believes their time to shine is now.
"Be it Jey or Jimmy Uso, both have proven themselves as worthy contenders," said Owens. "They deserve the world. Regardless of the specific title – Universal or World Champion –it slips my mind. But I'm confident they'd fit the bill and excel at it.
Given their impressive trajectory, they're primed for the spotlight and wouldn't look out of place."
Zayn Backs Usos' Championship Bid
Zayn, in agreement, chimed in next, offering his insight. While other noteworthy contenders like Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes are also on his radar, he believes it's the Usos' moment from a storytelling perspective.
"Certainly, there have been numerous promising characters throughout the past three years, and several could have put a fitting end to this storyline," Zayn admitted. "I see myself, Cody Rhodes, and even Drew McIntyre as plausible choices, although the broader narrative may not align perfectly with Drew.
Kevin could have also been an apt contender to wrap up the story." Yet, Zayn's assessment leaned towards the Usos. "After everything that has transpired, it seems Jimmy or Jey Uso would be the most appropriate choice to conclude this tale."
Thus, both tag team champions are pushing for a paradigm shift in the WWE universe. Only time will tell if their hopes become a reality.
