The WWE universe was in for a surprise at WWE Money in the Bank when the legendary John Cena made a captivating appearance before a packed house at The O2 Arena in London, England. However, an intriguing backstage clip shared by WWE on Wednesday showcased Cena's own surprise when he crossed paths with none other than WWE Women's World Champion, Rhea Ripley.
While the contents of their conversation remain a mystery, it hasn't stopped one man from issuing a direct challenge to Cena. In a tweet that quickly gained attention, Brody King exclaimed, "Damnit... now I have to beat up John Cena."
Brody King Playfully Questions Cena's Intentions
King, who happens to be a part of AEW's House of Black alongside Ripley's real-life partner Buddy Matthews, playfully suggested that Cena may be up to no good.
Although the exact nature of Cena's remarks remains unknown, his actions following the encounter certainly did not help his case, reminiscent of Jim Halpert from "The Office." Responding to King's tweet, Ripley kept it simple yet expressive, replying with two emojis: one representing laughter mixed with tears and the other showing raised hands.
It is not the first time that the professional wrestling community has teased Ripley regarding her on-screen interactions. In the past, her stablemate "Dirty Dom" Mysterio has often been the subject of playful banter. Even Max Caster from The Acclaimed took a jibe at Dom and Rhea's relationship during the buildup to their clash with House of Black at Double or Nothing in May.
However, there's no denying the chemistry Ripley and Dom showcase on WWE Raw as part of The Judgment Day faction. As for Cena, it seems unlikely that he and Brody King will cross paths in the near future. However, the same cannot be said for Cena and "Dirty Dom," leaving fans speculating about potential confrontations on the horizon.
As the anticipation builds, fans will eagerly watch to see if Brody King's challenge to John Cena materializes, and whether any further surprises await in the ongoing saga between AEW and WWE.
