Saraya Reveals Triple H Unaware of Her WWE Contract Termination

Saraya, known to many as Paige, has recently shared intimate details regarding the conclusion of her WWE contract, stating that even Triple H was unaware of the decision made by WWE executives. Saraya's stint with WWE spanned 11 years, culminating in July of last year when she was informed that her contract would not be extended.

She began her WWE journey in 2011, creating a legacy as the only Superstar to simultaneously hold both the Divas and NXT Women’s Championships. Her career took a significant blow in 2017 when she was diagnosed with a severe neck injury, forcing her to permanently step out of the ring.

However, her passion for WWE remained unfettered. Despite the medical setback, she still graced WWE events, signings, and even had a stint as a General Manager on Smackdown.

Triple H Uninformed of Saraya's Departure

In 2022, John Laurinaitis, then-WWE VP of Talent Relations, made the decision not to renew Saraya's contract.

This news came as a surprise to Triple H, who took the reins from Vince McMahon (and Laurinaitis) later that year. In an unexpected twist, Triple H, unaware of the contract termination, erroneously assumed Saraya's departure was self-initiated.

In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Saraya revealed the emotional turmoil of leaving the ring and the unexpected call from John Laurinaitis. The inability to wrestle, she admitted, had come at a time when her personal life was thriving.

She candidly discussed the significance of having a supportive community around her and her desire to stay involved with WWE, despite the injury and ensuing pandemic restrictions. Laurinaitis’ phone call, however, marked the end of her WWE journey.

Saraya stated, “We’re not going to renew your contract”. She accepted this with grace, recognizing that without wrestling, her role in WWE was limited. Adding another layer to the saga, Saraya divulged that Triple H was shocked at WWE's decision to let her go.

He extended an offer for her to return, highlighting his kindness and grace despite the unfortunate situation. In a turn of events, Saraya made a triumphant return to professional wrestling, this time with AEW. Her comeback match was against Britt Baker at AEW Full Gear 2022.

As AEW prepares to host the "All In" event at Wembley Stadium this August, Saraya can expect an enthusiastic welcome from her fans, marking a new chapter in her illustrious career.
