John Cena, Triple H, Ronda Rousey and Stephanie McMahon were at FOX Upfronts to represent the WWE. The event took place at the Beacon Theater which is present in New York City. Big Show was also reported to be present for the event, but we cannot tell for certain whether he was there or not.
Ronda Rousey has not appeared on any WWE program ever since her match at WrestleMania 35. She lost her RAW Women’s Title to Becky Lynch that night. Since she appeared at Upfronts, many people now believe that Rousey will be returning to fight in the WWE again.
She will most likely be working on Smackdown which is WWE’s blue brand. Wrestling Inc. reported that officials from Fox asked Rousey to be placed on the Smackdown roster. Smackdown will be part of FOX on the 4th of October this year.
FOX wants a popular superstar to be part of Smackdown to generate interest in the brand. Rousey is a one of the most popular former MMA stars of the world, and FOX wants her to be a selling point. FOX also wants Smackdown to be more like a proper sports show rather than sports entertainment.
Smackdown is now officially part of the fall line-up programming. The show will be 2 hours long. RAW will still be WWE’s major show and will have WWE’s top stars.
