Matt Riddle is one of the most popular WWE stars in the promotion right now. He is well known for being Randy Orton’s tag team partner. Randy Orton was at one time the tag team partner of legendary WWE Hall of Famer Edge.
Matt Riddle recently revealed that he thought about forming a faction with Randy Orton and Edge at one point.
Matt Riddle Speaks About Not Having Anybody to Rely on Anymore
He spoke on The Bump about this. The host asked if Riddle ever thought about forming a faction with Gunther and Imperium.
At that time, he revealed that he wished to be part of several factions. One them included forming a faction with Edge and Randy Orton. "You got Cody, he's a stallion. You know, if Randy ever comes back. That would be awesome. Edge — you know, for a minute there, I wanted to do Rated RK-Bro, you know.
It's a whole thing. I would love to be in a group," stated Riddle. Rated-RKO was at one time the name of the team that consisted of Edge and Orton. They existed between 2006 and 2011. At the 2020 Royal Rumble when Edge made his return, they teased that they will reunite at some point.
Instead of forming a team together, the two superstars entered a long feud. They fought a total of 3 times during the feud. Randy Orton is currently not an active wrestler as he is dealing with a back injury. Matt stated that he doesn’t like the fact that he can’t depend on anyone.
When Orton was around, he felt like someone has his back all the time. This is no longer the case at Matt has to fight alone. "I'll be honest, as a guy kinda on his own, especially with Randy [Orton] gone a bit and Drew [McIntyre] is always doing something, all these factions have people to depend on.
If they're down, they have someone to live them up, and right now I really don't have that and it's a little unfortunate," lamented Riddle. We do not know when Randy Orton will return to the WWE. It is rumored that he might be returning soon, but no date has been announced yet.
Matt has shown interest in taking some WWE NXT wrestlers under his wing and help them perform well on them main roster till then.
