Drew McIntyre is one of WWE’s most popular stars and he has been features in almost every major storyline ever since he was pushed several years ago. This is Drew’s second run in the company. His first run was a disaster, and he left the company to join Impact Wresting.
He became very popular in Impact Wresting, which led WWE to re-sign him. Since then, Drew has feuded with some of the best stars that the WWE has.
Bully Ray Wishes to See Drew McIntyre's Aggressive Side Soon
Drew made his return at the WWE Money in the Bank PPV event.
He is currently in a feud with GUNTHER who holds the WWE Intercontinental title. Even though he is a popular star, Bully Ray believes that his character work doesn’t stand out. In fact, some people have criticized him in the past for this.
Bully Ray spoke about Drew’s personality on the Buster Open Radio. He stated that Drew is still the babyface wrestler that he was 3 months prior. "I'm hoping that GUNTHER can bring out a different side of Drew — on the microphone [and] personality-wise," Ray said.
"I have gone on record, there's something about Drew's personality that doesn't fully resonate. He looks the part, he fights the part, he stands there the part, he's everything the part — other than when he talks. When Drew talks, I can't get as into him as I have with everything else he has done." Bully Ray believes that the WWE creative team should make GUNTHER get under Drew’s skin.
Bully wishes to see a more aggressive version of Drew, which GUNTHER can help create. Bully stated that he wants GUNTHER to win his match against Drew at SummerSlam as that would elevate GUNTHER further. Drew still carries the label of ‘The COVID Champion’, and he hasn’t gotten rid of that yet.
"He will always be the guy that had to carry the company when there was nobody there," Ray said of McIntyre. "By no fault of his, I do think it affected him." Bully then suggested to Drew to take inspiration from Will Ospreay.
Will recently cut a very passionate promo on AEW Dynamite before his match against Kenny Omega. Drew’s second run in the WWE started in 2018. Drew has shown the fans his aggressive side on occasions, but it was very rare, and it was during the time Drew was with Dolph Ziggler.
