Rey Mysterio's trend of adopting comic book-inspired outfits for WrestleMania has sparked a contagious enthusiasm across the WWE Universe. This passion for comic-book personas has been embraced by Johnny Gargano's numerous comic-themed outfits, Rhea Ripley, and The New Day, all drawing inspiration from the Saiyans of the popular manga and anime series Dragonball Z.
In a recent interview with WWE Deutschland, WWE's own Mustafa Ali disclosed that his outfit for the upcoming "NXT" Great American Bash event will pay tribute to the Marvel icon, Captain America. His goal is to challenge the perceptions of those fans who question his American identity.
With a playful yet determined edge, Ali asserted, "I'm about to have the freshest drip on that show."
Mustafa Ali: Undrafted, Unyielding
Following his undrafted status in this year's WWE Draft, Mustafa Ali has become a formidable free agent, stirring the "NXT" scene.
He has proven to be a thorn in the side of the audience and the locker room alike, notably provoking former North American Champion Wes Lee. Ali is slated to contend against North American Champion "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio and Lee in a Triple Threat Match at the July 30 event, taking place at Cedar Park, Texas's H-E-B Center.
Although Ali has yet to clinch a championship during his WWE career, he's not backing down. Similar to Baron Corbin, another influential free agent, Ali is not expected to be a consistent fixture in "NXT." However, he's been maximizing his tenure in this developmental brand to reinvigorate his character.
WWE officials, on the other hand, hope that these main roster veterans can ignite fan interest in the Tuesday night wrestling spectacle. Corbin, too, will be stepping into the ring at The Great American Bash, where he will clash with Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson in what is one of the most eagerly anticipated in-ring debuts.
