Randy Orton Health, 2023 WWE Return & Possible SummerSlam Involvement Update

Since undergoing a lower back fusion surgery in November 2022, professional wrestler Randy Orton, also known as "The Viper", has remained absent from the WWE wrestling scene since May 2022. Fans of the 43-year-old veteran have been eagerly speculating about his potential return, especially with SummerSlam approaching this Saturday.

In a recent report by Fightful Select, it's clarified that while Orton's health is steadily improving, fans should not hold their breath for his SummerSlam comeback. According to their sources, Orton is not currently part of WWE's creative plans, thus making his imminent return unlikely.

If there's any truth in rumors of Orton's return, he's skillfully keeping it under wraps.

Orton's Unprecedented Recovery Journey

In the wrestling industry, Orton's surgery represents uncharted territory. His rehabilitation process has involved an arduous journey, from the complexities of his operation to the uncertainties of his return.

Although he has not yet received clearance for in-ring training, Orton has shown determination and resilience, devoting his time to weightlifting and building his physical strength in preparation for his potential comeback.

Medical professionals had initially advised Orton, a third-generation wrestler, against returning to the ring post-surgery. Despite such cautionary advice, it seems the tenacious superstar is unwavering in his desire to return to the wrestling ring.

When Orton is eventually deemed ready for in-ring training, he is expected to train at the WWE's Performance Center in Orlando, which is equipped to support his recovery and gradual re-introduction to the intense physical demands of professional wrestling.

Orton's last appearance was at a WWE Tag Team Championship unification match on "WWE SmackDown" in May 2022, where he and partner Matt Riddle were defeated by the "SmackDown" Tag Team Champions The Usos. Following Orton's exit, Riddle transitioned to a singles competitor, entangling himself in feuds with Seth Rollins and Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER.

The Tag Team titles, now unified, are currently held by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, illustrating the dynamic shift within WWE since Orton's departure. As Orton's fans await his return, WWE continues to evolve, promising interesting storylines ahead.
