On January 8, 2019, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance at a media event organized by the upstart All Elite Wrestling (AEW) promotion, where he announced his allegiance with the company. Shortly after the appearance, Jericho was filmed signing a full-time performers three-year contract with AEW and shaking hands with the company's President Tony Khan.
Jericho is scheduled to make his AEW debut at Double or Nothing against Kenny Omega. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Y2J recalled his WrestleMania 29 match with Fandango: “When Vince [McMahon] makes up his mind — hey, Jericho vs Fandango at WrestleMania? Wasn’t the biggest fan of it.
Was pretty pissed off about it, to be honest with you. But you know, when I realized this is what Vince wants me to do and there’s no way out of it, now I got to make it great. If I can do that, then even though I don’t feel great about it, I’ll get the respect from the boss”.
Among other accolades within the WWF/WWE, Jericho has won the Undisputed WWF Championship once, the WCW/World Championship twice, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, and the Intercontinental Championship a record nine times. Jericho is the ninth Triple Crown Champion, as well as the fourth Grand Slam Champion in history.
