At this year's WWE SummerSlam, Ricochet faced off against Logan Paul in one of the most anticipated bouts of his professional career. However, despite the significant magnitude of the contest, some experts, including former WWE official Jimmy Korderas, expressed reservations regarding how the company subsequently showcased the former Intercontinental Champion on "WWE Raw" the following evening.
In the episode following SummerSlam, Ricochet was placed in a high-stakes fatal four-way match alongside Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle, and Chad Gable. The stakes? A coveted position as the number-one contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
But even with Ricochet's recent momentum, he failed to secure the victory, falling short of the esteemed title opportunity. It was, surprisingly, Chad Gable who emerged victorious.
"Korderas' Take on Gable's Victory"
Korderas, the keen observer of wrestling's intricate dynamics, didn't hold back his views during his renowned "Reffin Rant" segment.
He pointed out, "Another superstar who deserves a notable push, and whom I believed was primed for one, is Chad Gable. He secured the win, leaving no room for Ricochet's elevation in that match." The audience in Detroit was palpably in favor of Ricochet, their collective voices echoing in support.
Yet, reminiscent of his "Raw" performance, Ricochet found himself at the short end of the stick against Paul. The controversial use of brass knuckles by Paul to seal his victory added another layer to the unfolding narrative.
Korderas, however, was not all criticism and gave Ricochet his due for the exceptional performance he delivered against Logan Paul. "After witnessing SummerSlam, it was evident that the fans are eager to see Ricochet rise to the top echelons," Korderas emphasized.
"His bout against Logan Paul was indeed captivating. Paul also deserves commendation; he established a significant presence without necessarily taking the win." Despite the recent setbacks, if the WWE Universe's sentiment is any indication, the road ahead is bright for Ricochet.
The burning question remains: When will he get his next substantial push, especially with talents like GUNTHER dominating the scene? Only time will tell.
