DDP Speaks About His Last Match Almost Paralyzing Him

Diamond Dallas Page is one of the best technical wrestlers of all time. He is well known for being one of the only wrestlers in the world who could work with any wrestler and still perform well. He could make the other wrestler work well and he was a good worker himself.

That being said, DDP’s career did not last as long as some of his fans would have wanted. This is because during his career, he suffered a huge amount of injuries.

DDP Speaks About His Back and Neck Injuries That Shortened His Career

He recently revealed that one of his injuries that he sustained could have left him paralyzed for life.

Wrestlers that suffer back or neck injuries usually cannot perform at their very best. One severe neck injury is enough for any wrestlers career to end. Over the years, we have seen extremely tough and fit wrestlers end their careers after suffering a brutal neck injury.

Even if a wrestler manages to end their wrestling career without a severe injury, many wrestlers suffer from the long-term effects of wrestling. Some wrestlers, such as Hulk Hogan, reportedly live in pain all the time. Hulk Hogan suffers from chronic back pain, as he overused his move called the leg drop, which was put tremendous pressure on the back of the wrestler performing it.

DDP spoke about his last WWE match, after which he had to take sometime off. "I go back about my neck, and [his doctor] goes, 'Let me show you something,' and he shows me how bad my neck is," DDP revealed on "Insight with Chris Van Vliet." "He goes, 'You were so lucky, if you'd have landed a little right or a little left, you'd be a quadriplegic right now.

You would be done.' " This actually forced DDP to leave the WWE, and end his WWE run. It didn’t end his professional wrestling career though as he wrestled a few times after sustaining that injury. DDP started his DDP Yoga Program after he met with his spine doctor.

He stated that he shocked his doctor by recovering extremely well. "When my spine guy, who first guided me when I blew my back out and broke my back, he goes, 'You're done,'" DDP revealed. "Three months later, because of what would become [DDP Yoga] I went back to him, he's like, 'I've never seen this recovery ever, what did you do?' I told him and I showed him and he goes, 'Don't stop doing that, keep doing whatever the f*** you're doing.' "
