KultureCity and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) have shared a flourishing partnership since AEW's inception in 2019. Reflecting this long-standing alliance, one of AEW's most distinguished stars, Adam Cole (born Austin Jenkins), was recently celebrated with KultureCity’s prestigious Human Highlight Award.
The accolade commemorates Cole’s resilience in overcoming significant health challenges and making a triumphant return to the ring. At the Double or Nothing event in 2022, Cole faced a daunting adversary in Samoa Joe during the finale of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
Unfortunately, the bout resulted in a severe concussion for Cole. To compound the adversity, he suffered another concussion during a grueling fatal four-way match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at the Forbidden Door event.
These consecutive injuries forced the wrestling luminary to step away from the ring for an extended period of nine months. Many speculated if Cole would ever make his wrestling comeback. Yet, defying odds, Cole marked a grand return in May 2023, dispelling fears of a premature end to his illustrious career.
Cole's partner, the equally talented Britt Baker, took to social media, sharing poignant visuals and a video capturing his heartfelt acceptance speech. Adam Cole’s words resonated deeply: “I am so honored and humbled.
My gratitude extends to the incredible circle of people around me. Our world truly flourishes when we stand united and support one another”.
Cole's Journey: Recovery and Gratitude
In a candid revelation, Cole acknowledged how he had enjoyed a largely injury-free trajectory until the recent concussions.
He voiced heartfelt gratitude not only for regaining his health but also for the upcoming opportunity to headline AEW's All In event at the iconic Wembley Stadium. A significant portion of his gratitude was directed towards Britt Baker, whose unwavering support, according to Cole, was instrumental during his challenging recovery phase.
Their celebratory evening at the Kulture Ball in Birmingham, AL almost caused Baker to miss her headline match in Rampage. Nevertheless, the duo managed a swift commute via a private jet, ensuring Baker's timely presence in Lexington, KY, and giving fans an additional treat with Cole's appearance.
Fans are keenly awaiting August 27th. Adam Cole is slated for a dual role at All In. He will be teaming up with MJF to challenge Aussie Open for the ROH Tag Team Championship, and later, in a much-anticipated face-off, Cole and MJF will vie for the coveted AEW World Championship.
