WWE Superstar Dakota Kai's return to the ring might be more distant than fans hope. The recent scoop from PWInsider Elite sheds light on Kai's current health and wrestling status. Dakota Kai, despite showing up for every "SmackDown" TV taping, remains on the injured list and isn't set to make her in-ring return in the near future.
This setback stems from a severe ACL tear she suffered during a dramatic "SmackDown" match on May 17. Kai teamed up with Bayley to challenge then-WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The contest was intense, with Morgan, in the same bout, sustaining a shoulder injury.
Kai promptly underwent surgery a week following the incident.
Kai's Triumphant SummerSlam Return
However, the superstar's spirit wasn't dampened. Kai made a triumphant appearance at WWE's SummerSlam event on August 5. Fans were elated as she joined her Damage CTRL faction to commemorate IYO SKY's extraordinary Money in the Bank triumph against Bianca Belair, clinching the WWE Women's Championship title.
It's notable that Belair had just overpowered stalwarts Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a high-stakes three-way clash, only to lose her freshly-won title to the relentless SKY. Interestingly, SKY hasn’t yet showcased her title in a defense match on WWE TV.
Dakota Kai's journey with WWE has been a rollercoaster. In her current stint, she has clinched the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles twice alongside SKY, celebrating a notable reign of over 100 days from November 2022 to February 2023.
Flashback to April 29, 2022, when many were taken aback as Kai's contract with WWE was terminated. But the resilient superstar bounced back swiftly. By July 2022's SummerSlam, Kai made a resounding comeback alongside Bayley, who was also making her return post-injury, and SKY.
This marked the genesis of the formidable Damage CTRL faction. The WWE Universe waits in anticipation for Kai's full recovery and eventual return to the squared circle.
