In a recent and insightful interview with Interstate 70 Sports Media, LA Knight, one of WWE's most beloved superstars, sheds light on his tumultuous journey in the wrestling world, leading up to his anticipated match with The Miz at WWE Payback 2023 PLE.

Knight candidly spoke about the challenges he faced during his initial years in wrestling. "Reflecting on my first decade in the ring, my 20s were filled with financial struggles," Knight recounted. "While I never seriously contemplated quitting wrestling, the financial strain and external pressures almost pushed me to seek alternative career paths." Juggling odd jobs, including serving roles, he remained determined, with an unwavering focus on wrestling, despite numerous naysayers, including close family and friends.

LA Knight's dedication and perseverance finally started bearing fruit in his 30s. "It was around that time when I began to receive compensation for my passion," Knight said.

Knight's career trajectory saw an upward trend from NXT to Impact to NWA, with each platform offering him better remuneration and visibility. However, 2016 presented Knight with a pivotal career decision. WWE approached him with an offer to return, but the proposed pay was notably lower than what he drew at Impact.

"Given my age at the time, close to 37, and the financial stability I was enjoying at Impact, the decision wasn't straightforward," Knight elaborated. Further complicating matters was the onset of the pandemic in 2020. Approaching 40, amidst global uncertainty, Knight feared his age and the pandemic's repercussions would hamper his chances with WWE.

But, refusing to bow down to adversity, he said, "I decided to take one final shot, fully aware it could be my last." Remarkably, WWE opened its doors for Knight, an opportunity he seized with both hands. Reflecting on his journey, Knight remarked, "It's surreal to think about where I started and where I am today.
