Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Aleister Black will not be part of the WWE Super ShowDown event that will take place on the 7th of June in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. On an episode of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that Black was not allowed to participate in the event because of his tattoos.
The tattoos have a religious connotation. Black has not spoken about his tattoos or about the event. He did say the following to The Daily Star in 2017. "I don't really talk about the meaning of my tattoos, but I will give you that one," Black said.
"The being on my back is Lilith, in some folklore she is the first woman to ever rebel against paradise. The reason she is there for equality, equality for every man and woman – which is the most important thing there is."
Daniel Bryan will not be participating in the event because he doesn’t like the way Saudi Arabia treats homosexuals. He didn’t work in the last event in Saudi Arabia as well which was Crown Jewel. Sami Zayn was also not allowed to participate in the event because of his Syrian ancestry.
Bryan feels that that is racist and he is quite upset about it. Sami Zayn’s absence was announced and WWE issued the following statement: "WWE is committed to embracing individuals from all backgrounds while respecting local customs and cultural differences around the world."
