The wrestling community mourns the loss of an iconic figure. WWE has reported the passing of Adnan Al-Kaissie, familiar to ardent wrestling fans under monikers such as Billy White Wolf, Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissy, and General Adnan.

He took his last bow on September 6, leaving behind a rich legacy in sports entertainment. Born in Baghdad, as detailed in his autobiography, Al-Kaissie's roots trace back to an impressive amateur wrestling stint in Iraq. From there, he journeyed to the U.S.

and pursued academic excellence at Oklahoma State University. It was here that his passion for professional wrestling took flight. Stepping into the ring for the first time in 1959 as Adnan Kaissy, his adaptability and charisma allowed him to don various personas throughout his illustrious career.

As Billy White Wolf in WWE, he achieved remarkable success, clinching the WWE World Tag Team Championship in 1976. Reintroducing himself to WWE fans later on as General Adnan, his prowess as a competitor and a captivating character remained unblemished.

Global Wrestling Stature

Across the ocean in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, he was celebrated as the Sheik of Sheiks of Baghdad, further solidifying his global reputation. The American Wrestling Association and World Class Championship Wrestling also witnessed his brilliance, where he dominated both as an in-ring competitor and the magnetic manager Sheik Adnan El Kaissy.

One of his most memorable moments came when he graced the main event of SummerSlam 1991. Alongside Col. Mustafa (famously known as The Iron Sheik) and the Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter, they squared off against the unbeatable duo of Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior, a bout still fondly remembered by fans.

General Adnan's legacy continued through the virtual realm for the current generation. Gamers and wrestling enthusiasts got to experience his dynamic character in the popular video games WWE 2K15 and WWE 2K16. As the news of his departure spreads, the wrestling world reflects on the remarkable journey of a man who seamlessly merged authenticity with entertainment.
