Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's recent reappearance at WWE SmackDown, after a hiatus that spanned over four years, has the wrestling world buzzing. During his comeback, he teamed up with Pat McAfee, verbally assaulting Austin Theory and punctuating his dominance with a resounding People's Elbow.

This was the first time he graced WWE television since 2019, a moment that inevitably reignited rumors about a potential showdown with Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, at WWE WrestleMania 40 next year.

At the time of his SmackDown spotlight, The Rock's future engagements remained a mystery. However, the recent culmination of the WGA strike and probable end to the SAG-AFTRA strike suggest that actors like Johnson might be gearing up to resume their bustling production activities.

The Rock's 2024 Plans

Interestingly, The Rock's cinematic calendar appears relatively uncluttered. His forthcoming holiday blockbuster, "Red One", has transitioned into the post-production phase, while the live-action rendition of "Moana" is still in the early casting stages.

Given these indicators, the Spring of 2024 might witness The Rock's amplified involvement with WWE. Some reports even speculate that his participation might extend past WrestleMania 40. Adding to the speculation, following WWE's revelation that the 2024 Elimination Chamber will captivate audiences from a stadium in Perth, Australia, the reputable Australian news source, The West Australian, hinted at the possibility of The Rock wrestling at the event.

So, if The Rock decides to lace up his boots once more, who's his opponent? Given that it's been over a decade since he competed in a full-fledged match, and recalling the severe injuries he sustained the last time he did, any return would likely be handled with care.

A tag match at the WWE Elimination Chamber seems a plausible choice. The Rock's mere presence, as evidenced by the electrifying response in Denver, is enough to galvanize fans. A tag team showdown against The Bloodline, leading to a WWE WrestleMania 40 title bout with Roman Reigns, would seamlessly align with the overarching narrative.

Speculation is rife about his potential partner. Pairing with Jey Uso makes strategic sense. Despite Jey's current stint on Monday Night Raw, signs indicate a forthcoming clash with his sibling, Jimmy Uso. Aligning him with The Rock against adversaries like Jimmy and Solo Sikoa could set the stage for one of WWE WrestleMania 40's most anticipated duels, allowing Jey to shoulder the primary action and tag in The Rock for those signature moments.
