Dave Bautista has made a name for himself as a wrestler and as an actor. However, things were not so simple for the 50-year-old as he recently shared in an appearance in the panel of the 2019 Denver Pop Culture Con. Bautista, whose ring name was Batista said he was forced to quit the Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) because he was not allowed to act because of WWE's norms disallowing pursuance of other interests.
Bautista said, "So about eight months later I walked out the door and they didn't think I was going to. I walked out on top. I was very comfortable. I was making a very good living and I walked out. Then I starved for three years.
I went broke and lost everything. I couldn't get a job. I said, 'I will never go back to wrestling until I prove what I set out to prove that I could make it as an actor.' " Bautista also said that after the completion of shooting of Guardians of the Galaxy, he got in touch with Vince McMahon and told him he wanted to return to wrestling for a little while.
Earlier in April 2019, Bautista made his last appearance in the WWE in WrestleMania 35 against Triple H. He lost that bout. Days later, he announced his retirement. On the screen, Bautista was seen in Avengers: Endgame which released on 26th April 2019. He is also expected to be a part of the James Gunn-directed third Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
